The distance from Chennai to Yercaud is roughly around 350 to 380 km depending on the route of travel. The route can be accessed through both rail and road but the road is the most recommended one. You can take the following routes to reach, however.

Route 1

Chennai-Tindivanam-Salem-Yercaud

Route 2

Chennai-Krishnagiri-Salem-Yercaud

The route via Krishnagiri is more preferred as it gives maximum opportunity for sightseeing and is a comfortable journey if you are riding a bike. The 4 lane road makes it a smooth ride along the eastern ghats. On hitting the NH make sure you fuel yourself with a good meal as there are a lot of local eateries along the highway. Salem is a bust place well known for its Hindu Temples and its famous Jama Masjid. Salem also is a good shopping destination for you and your family.

Your Final Destination is Yercaud which is about 30 km from Salem through the curvy mountain roads and damp, cool air. Yercaud rests silently surrounded by silver oaks and pepper vines and goes by the local name Yer-Cadu. Although it was a remote tribal destination earlier, it has been developed into a hilly attraction of the British Era who introduces the famed Arabica Coffee plantations along with citrus fruits too in the area. You can park your vehicle in Yercaud Rain Trees Resorts and stroll along the narrow pavements exploring the colonial architectural designs reflected on the buildings and Holy Trinity church.

There are plenty of Local Markets which you can have a walk in and you can fetch you delicacies like the corncob, the chilli bhajis and the honey-soaked sweet figs. Do not forget to have a bite of custard apples that are available in plenty. Later on, you can easily float around the famed lake in a pedalled boat finally resting your day. Do not forget to visit the Botanical Garden the next day during the early morning hours as local birds and blooming flowers of kurinji can be a delight to the eyes. Since our resort is surrounded by muddy coffee plantation area and get yourself rejuvenated with the strong smell of coffee that perfectly works as therapy; the area is definitely a halt you will never forget to visit again.
